Insanity, because it boosts your metabolism with the long-term in mind, can also be the key to reducing anxiety and depression (something pyschologists have long asserted when it comes to physical fitness). Just as one can get caught in a downward spiral of poor health habits, wherein we feel more and more drained of energy as our physical fitness diminishes, Insanity is designed to create an upward cycle of fitness and energy. As our bodies improve, so do our moods, which translates into more positive behavior patterns.

The Workout Calendar is versatile enough that many workout mavens have modified to it to include a “hybrid” of the two workouts. Before attempting to do such a thing, though, most experts would recommend that the aspiring workout-aholic complete both the Insanity Program and P90X, as combining the two while still going through the “feeling out” stages could set the stage for an unhappy experience – yes, the work is that hard, as hard as you might imagine it could be. The results, too, are sure to carry well beyond your original expectations (or those of anyone else who is watching you transform into your best physical self).
Whatever assistance the Workout Calendar lends (as it is intended to do), one should still pay equal attention to what their bodies are telling them as they go through the Insanity process. The chances are that most people will find it, at first, to be more challenging than they had envisioned. Those who have completed Insanity and other such extreme workouts are quick to recommend that you shouldn’t push the issue. If you need to drop off part way through a workout, do so… Just try to jump back in and give it your all before it ends. It may take you a few tries to get all the way through some of the workouts. This should not discourage anyone – even with limited work, you’ll feel the results kicking in, telling you that you’ve done the right thing (and that you need to do more).
